University Don Calls For Stronger Bond Among Old Students As D.M.G.S. Ijero Ekiti Celebrates 70 Years.
An Associate Professor of French and Translation and Head of Department of French at the Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Dr. Gbadegeshin Olusegun Adeboye has urged old students of Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero Ekiti, to form a united front that will bring about great progress and advancement of the legacy the school at it’s 70th Anniversary Lecture held on Tuesday.
Adeboye, who delivered the keynote address of the Anniversary Lecture titled: “Celebrating 70 years of enduring legacy on the momentous occasion of Doherty Memorial Grammar School”, on behalf of Professor Samuel Oladipo Kolawole, also of Ekiti State University, uplifted the spirit of the audience who were mostly old students with his inspirational and in depth lecture.
“Today we gather together to celebrate seven decades of excellence, community service and of enduring legacy. As you celebrate 70 years of solid and memorable moments of the school’s excellence, you are reminded of the profound impact that this institution has had on the lives of former and current students and even teachers,” he said.
He further buttressed the fact that: “From the friendships you formed to the lessons you learned, Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero Ekiti, has been a cornerstone of personal and professional growth.”
In his response to the Anniversary Lecture, President of the D.M.G.S. Old Students Association, Dr. Abiodun Arokodare, stressed the need to energise the class sets to impact on the national body of the old students association.
The third day of activities marking the 70th Anniversary of the school was concluded with a special assembly roll call with the old students in their respective house color apron and current students in school uniform.
