Five decades after first walking through its gates, the 1976 set of Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero, returned home to celebrate 50 years of stories, laughter, and friendship and left behind more than memories.
To mark their Golden Jubilee, the alumni commissioned and donated a fully equipped clinic to their alma mater. The modern facility comes stocked with medical equipment and essentials, giving current students and the Ijero community access to quality first-aid and healthcare on campus.
The clinic was officially commissioned by His Royal Highness, the Ajero of Ijero Kingdom, Oba Joseph Adebayo Adewole, who commended the ’76 set for “turning nostalgia into impact.” Royal presence, school anthems, and old-school banter filled the grounds as classmates reunited, shared old photos, and honoured teachers who shaped them.
For the 1976 set, the donation closes a 50-year loop: from youngsters chasing dreams in Ijero to men and women building legacies for the next generation. The clinic now stands as proof that friendship ages well when it gives back.
